The Colgan Power Programme

Why use it?

This is a specialised strength and flexibility system of exercises and stretches originally designed and developed primarily for athletes. It works by only using equipment that allows natural movement and balance of the body when it is being exercised. This mimics the movements experienced in sport and a multitude of other physical activities and thus develops a physique that is balanced, functional, resistant to injury and has maximum strength and speed for its size. Static exercise machines found in gyms that isolate different muscles to be exercised are not used. This is because any natural physical movement does not use single muscles in isolation but in multiple groups or muscle chains. The Colgan Power Programme is also time efficient and uses very specific exercises and training techniques that mean you do not have to spend hours in the gym to get the results you are after.

The Colgan Power Programme has been developed by Dr Michael Colgan. For more than twenty-five years his institute has been involved in training numerous athletes from those who play sport at the weekend up to and including Olympic champions. He is regarded as one of the worlds leading research scientists on physical performance. We are currently the only company offering this unique programme in the country.

What benefits can I expect?

Although originally developed for training athletes the programme can be adapted and used to train literally anyone. As with the sports nutrition you do not have to be an athlete or involved in sport to benefit from using it. One of the main principles of the programme is to develop correct posture. This is achieved by carrying out a full postural assessment and using stretches and exercises to correct abnormalities. Once this is achieved your core postural muscles (located in your midsection) are strengthened. With a strong core and correct posture you can develop strength and agility that you never thought possible and have a powerful, flexible and lean body for life.

How does the programme work?

The power program is usually run in conjunction with a sports nutrition program. This ensures that the body has optimum amounts of all necessary nutrients to support it during training. Once the main goal/goals of the client have been established they fill in a questionnaire to establish current health. If a recent full postural assessment has not been carried out (in the last six months) provision is made to do this. Using the information gathered, a program of exercise is devised using Colgan Power Program exercises and techniques with appropriate nutritional support. This is flexible and tailored to fit into the client's lifestyle to achieve the best results as quickly as possible.
