The primary programme consists of 3 consultations (initial and two follow-ups)
Initial Consultation
The client is sent a questionnaire that is filled in and returned by e-mail or post before the initial consultation. This is then followed by a one to one consultation that lasts approximately 90 minutes (this can be over the telephone or face to face) after which a detailed dietary plan is worked out covering all the main food groups. This is designed to be realistic and useable by the client, taking into account any time constraints or other problems that commonly crop up in the real world. It may also be accompanied by a prescription of supplements to complement the dietary changes and to help speed up progress. The client is also given tips and advice on how to maintain momentum, telephone and e-mail support in conjunction with suggestions for lifestyle changes that may be beneficial.
First follow-up consultation
After six to eight weeks the client has their first follow-up consultation. Follow-up consultations typically last 30-60 minutes and are basically a review of progress. They allow the client to ask any questions they may have and to talk about any changes in symptoms and general health they may have noticed. They can also discuss any difficulties they may be having. The nutritionist then takes this new information and if necessary makes changes (usually minor) to the dietary and supplement prescriptions.
Second follow-up consultation
Like the first follow-up this usually occurs another six to eight weeks after the previous consultation and is another chance to review progress and ask questions. By this time substantial progress has usually been made and the diet and supplement prescriptions that come from this consultation are very often enough to resolve the initial health problems that the client was suffering from.
After the primary programme is complete the client has two options. Some end the treatment, being satisfied with their renewed health. Others choose to continue with further consultations because they want to build on the progress they have already made and experience even higher levels of health and well-being.
Further consultations
These follow the same format as the follow-ups in the primary programme and act as nutritional check ups to help a client attain their highest possible level of health.
Throughout the primary programme and any further consultations the emphasis is on improving a person's knowledge of nutrition. This helps them understand the reasons why some foods are detrimental to health and others are beneficial. They also develop an understanding of supplements and why they are invaluable in the modern world. Armed with this information they can more effectively source the best foods and supplements and ensure they have the best possible health for the rest of their life.
